The introverted leader drumbeat goes on. Eliza Ridgeway, of CNN International, wrote a strong piece called Why Introverts Can Be Great Leaders. I am greatly encouraged by expanding worldwide press and research data that draws attention to the strong qualities of introverted leaders.
Am I a Pollyanna to think that this awareness and expanding body of research may affect changes in hiring and promotion decisions? Or that extroverted organizations will honor, and even reward, the calm reflection and listening strengths that introverts exhibit?
The jury is still out. But I choose to see the glass as half full as we enter 2011.
