At one point I asked Augusten Burroughs what he thought about writers as introverts. He told me that he loved to be alone but also enjoyed times like this; a chance to talk and meet new people. He stressed the need for community and good friends. Running With Scissors emerged after a good friend encouraged him to turn his emails into a book.
